Started in 2001, the Dot NAME universal top-level domain name extension is the only one meant for personal websites only. These domains can be personal or fictitious names, nicknames and/or other titles people are popular by. Initially, solely 3rd-level registrations were possible, so if you desired to buy john.doe.name, you had to do that under .doe.name. In 2004, however, the registration procedures were loosened and second-level registrations were also permitted. Already taken third-level domains remained operational.

You will have the opportunity to edit the WHOIS contact information, to park your domain, to create Custom DNS records, etc. You can also transfer an already purchased domain to our company if you receive its EPP transfer authorization code from the current registrar and we will renew it as soon as the transfer has been finished. There are no special conditions on who can purchase a dot NAME domain, but in order to keep the concept behind its creation alive, the .NAME Registry may check who the Registrant is and if there is no relation between the owner and the actual domain, the registration might be challenged.
